Happy Easter, Happy Resurrection, Happy Jesus Rose Day!

It is this day where many make sure to attend their place of worship and it seems like everything pastel rules the world. So as I woke up this morning, while laying in my bed and mentally going through my closet deciding what to wear to church, that’s when I realized that I didn’t have much (or any) pastel colored clothes.

As a matter of fact, a good majority of my clothes are bright, bold and vibrant (you know, kind of like me). So instead of going along with the trend, I thought I would take a page from my own book and dare to be different. Now this is also another time of year where people spend money trying to find the perfect Easter dress. And being that I’m watching my wallet’s weight, this was something that just wasn’t feasible for its nutritional plan. So it forced me to work with what I had, which was a solid green dress. To escape the lane of plain Jane, I decided to add a little razzle-dazzle with a pop of color, just like the title suggests, yellow and black.

Any woman who owns an infinity scarf, please know that your outfit possibilities are endless! A scarf can take your outfit from drab to fab in a blink of an eye. This scarf worked out perfectly for me because I had the perfect pair of yellow and black shoes that made everything flow together nicely.

But in taking a second and truly reflecting on what the essence of this day really means, it’s not about what you wear, fluffy bunnies or jelly bean filled eggs.  It’s about who has sacrificed for us. And in my faith, that person is Jesus and today is the day that we celebrate his rising from the tomb. Just in that alone, reminds me of how truly blessed I am in my life and I know I would not have made it without God and Jesus as my Lord and Savior.

So whatever you’re religion or spirituality may be, remember that no matter what you’re going through, that higher power will always be there for you to see you through.
