Summer has officially started and if you’re over the age of 25, you know what that means… Wedding season!
I must admit that wedding season is my favorite time of year (aside from my birthday, fall and daylight savings time). I love witnessing the love between two people becoming as one in union. And any one who knows me knows that I am the ultimate hopeless romantic. This year I’m excited because I have received my fair share of invites for this summer.
With that being said, choosing the right outfit is key when taking into consideration what you’ll be doing and the atmosphere. For example, is the wedding a day wedding or an evening wedding? Will it be held inside or outside? On top of grass or leveled ground? All of these things are helpful need-to-knows when planning you’re outfit.
The wedding I just attended was an outside wedding (CONGRATS TO CURTIS & TANYA PITTMAN!) that took place at the beautiful Heartland Park located in Omaha, NE. Knowing the wedding was not only outside, but keeping in mind the possibility of grass, sun and various walking inclines, I wanted to make sure I wore something that could adhere to all of those factors.
The look I decided to go with is something that I call “summertime-flirty-chic”.
Crop top, A-line skirt and chunky necklace. I went with this look for two reasons. My favorite “C’s” — cool and comfort. The skirt — which I’ll let you in on a little secret, is really a dress under a crop top shirt. I placed a black belt on it as a divider and to supplement waist line. — was light and breezy.
Being the slender-hipped woman I am, I felt the A-line gave good contour and still was a classy yet flirty look. Notice that I am standing in grass, with that in mind I would stray away from shoes with heels. I’ve learned the hard way it’s not possible to walk on soft grass wearing heels and still look cute, at least not without getting mud on your heels. If this is the case, I would suggest a wedge or flat it out. It makes walking a breeze!
I have 2-3 more weddings to attend, including one I am apart of. So be sure to stay tuned over the next couple of weeks to see what I pull out of my closet next.
Until next time…
